Unmanned Aircraft Unit

The Unmanned Aircraft Unit enhances public safety by using unmanned aircraft systems to provide real-time aerial support for law enforcement operations. The unit assists with search and rescue, crime scene documentation, traffic crash reconstruction, and emergency response to help officers make informed decisions while reducing risk to the public and first responders. 

All operations are conducted by FAA-certified pilots and guided by strict policies to ensure safety, accountability, and respect for privacy. 

For the Trumann Police Department, our certified pilot is Dispatcher Jude Sawyer. 

Dispatcher Sawyer became a FAA-certified pilot for small unmanned aircraft systems in June of 2025. Since then, he has covered several events in the City of Trumann, special operations and events by the Trumann Police Department, and keeps drone footage of the City of Trumann current for disaster preparation.
